Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width consisting of an orange pale between two silver pallets, nebuly at top, each pallet charged with a black vertical arrow point up; on the orange background a silver lightning flash, all within a three segmented silver scroll inscribed "SURE" on the dexter segment, "AND" on the middle segment and "READY" on the sinister segment in black letters.

Symbolism
Orange and white (silver) are the colors used for Signal Corps organizations.  The two vertical bars, simulating pillars for support and the nebuly, heraldic symbol for clouds, together with the electronic flash, symbolize the basic mission of the Battalion.  The two vertical bars further allude to the numeral "11," the numerical designation of the organization.  The arrows, their barbs penetrating space, symbolize "Air Defense," the special category of the Battalion.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 25 July 1968.
